what it is and how to wear it

These soft fabric belts are quilted, each quilting line stitched by machine individually to
give it a little body. All-around contrasting piping and nice and long for a great look, to
emphasize hips or waistline -length allows a double or single wrap, bow, or knot! these are a
gorgeous detail to visually “break up” a top and bottom in the same colorway or add more
contrast and shape. look lovely used with my signature skirts and tops (either tucked in or
over bottoms) or a waistcoat.
all materials are soft. this item is hand block printed using hand-carved seasoned teak wooden
blocks. depending on the complexity and colorways of a print, each color requires its own
block. during the printing process the blocks are layered on top of one another on five-meter-

this item is hand block printed using hand-carved seasoned teak wooden blocks. depending
on the complexity and colorways of a print, each color requires its own block. during the
printing process each color is layered separately, with a different block cut for each colorway
and design. for running meters the fabric is stretched and pinned onto five-meter-long tables.
when pigments start to accumulate in the carvings of the blocks, they must be re-carved and
renewed in order to maintain the crispness of the design.
block printing is an ancient craft, not easily sustainable today, for it requires master craftsmen
who are dedicated and passionate about their work -it’s a hugely skilled and labor-intensive
manual process. after the fabrics are printed, cured, and washed the pieces are sewn after my
design and specifications. made in jaipur, rajasthan, india, my hub and second home and one
of the most creative and productive places for the making of textiles and crafts.
